6. Velvet and Wool

Softness of midnight leaning against fleecy warmth, all tangled and unkempt as shepherd’s beard: for even the darkness needs somewhere watchful to lay her weary head after so much dancing.

5. Layers

Lines of grey green purple mist drawn across the view by unseen brush. Smoky forest and amethyst fire, slowly rising and falling, undulating false mountains soon blown away even as the trees point to higher things.

4. Greening

How the silver and gold thread through the greening shield, leaf by shining leaf. Willowed weary warp and weft, travelling light, pooling in eddies of brilliant subversion, where the Lod’s glory is cried out and so obvious, it is a wonder these photons are not arrested on the spot. But then, the truth, out in the open, so daring, always was the hardest thing to see, and the easiest to crucify.
